Drifting in Mario Kart 8 DeluxeDrifting is a pretty common technique in racing games, and it’s useful in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well. Drifting in the game essentially allows you to make tight corners without unnecessarily bumping into the walls and corners, and potentially causing you to lose your lead during a race.In order to drift, you’ll want to keep your finger on the R button on the Switch.
Simply tapping the R button will allow your racer to perform a slight jump. However, if you hold down the button, your racer will apply the brakes, slowing you down a bit. You’ll want to wait till you’re just right before a tight corner on a race track, then hold down the R button while tilting the left analog stick in the direction you want your racer to go. Your racer will lean towards whichever direction you choose, and maintain a fair bit of speed while navigating through the corner. To make things a little easier for you, you can also choose to turn on the Smart Steering option so that your racer never goes completely off-track.
It’s a bit of a handicap, but there’s no shame in using it if you really need a helping hand.Be sure to check back with Twinfinite for more information on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
